This morning, I’m interviewing Kenyetta Cheatum. She is an aspiring model who won Ms. Tuscaloosa pageant’s and now she is helping her daughter, Tatyianna with her passion.
SKII: Kenyetta, tell me something about yourself.
Kenyetta: I am currently the reigning Ms. Tuscaloosa Alabama, Plus Size America Model of 2015. I am representing my home town of Tuscaloosa. I have an organization called Big Sistas w/ Purpose LLC. It was created and inspired by my daughter Tatyianna. Tatyianna who is 13 right now, was being bullied by students in elementary school, because she was always bigger than the other students. By being bullied, she began acquiring low self esteem. The organization is a mentoring program designed to help other children like her go through such situations. It helped my daughter get through her low self esteem. It helped other kids get over their situations of being bullied. It’s doing great!!
SKII: How did you get involved with pageants?
Kenyetta: I have a close friend in Montgomery Alabama, who was involved with doing pageants. My friend thought it would be a great idea for me to give it a try. The pageant was about plus size females who own businesses and goals. They wanted to know, what’s your purpose in life. The pageant wanted to know, what are you doing to make a difference in the society. It’s been a great experience for me so far.
SKII: Where were your pageants being held?
Kenyetta: Well, right now, it’s a state pageant. The actual pageant will be in Atlanta GA in July. We are actually competing in the Alabama State Pageant right now. The person that win this pageant will be inducted into the International Pageant in July. I’ve been doing pageants since last year in November. In that pageant, I was crowned Ms. Tuscaloosa.
SKII: What schools have you attended as a child?
Kenyetta: I am a Tuscaloosa County High Graduate of 1998. This is where the champions football player, Deontaye Wilder World Heavy Weight Champion came from.
SKII: If someone wants to donate or become involved with your organization, how would they get in contact with you??
Kenyetta: They can reach me by: Face book: Big Sistas with Purpose LLC or email [email protected]. I just want to add; I am using my organization as my platform for this pageant. I want to give back to my community; my city and my town. I need everyone to help support me on my journey. I need the city locals, the state, the world to know who I am and my purpose for this journey. I am not nor will never give up.
