DJ Steve Moody Turns the Tables Toward Creative Consulting
DJ Steve Moody of Steve Moody Entertainment and Consulting knows a thing or two about getting the party started. With over 25 years in the Entertainment profession it’s no wonder he has received accolades from The Knot’s “Best of Weddings” 2012-2014, Wedding Wire’s “Bride’s Choice” 2009-2014 and “What’s Up!” Magazine’s 2013. Steve Moody shows that he truly is the Master of the wedding Ceremony with his company hosting an array of talented DJ’s and MC’s who will satisfy even the most ‘Zilla’ of the Brides. Steve has further expanded his company to provide photo booths and various lighting techniques to his clients which is now a huge trend for wedding parties. Skii Magazine sat down with the industry professional to talk about his start in the business and how he set out to solidifying himself as the premiere DJ Services Company of the D/M/V area.
Steve Moody got his start DJing early in life during his sophomore year in High School at age 14. During a visit with his grandparents he expressed a serious interest in becoming a DJ. Recognizing how serious he was his Grandfather decided to show his full support. The very next day they headed out to pick up everything he would need to get his start. Considering how young Steve was his Grandfather accompanied him to the various gigs he DJ’d where he worked everything from birthday parties to anniversaries and other types of events. Eventually his focus would land on weddings. Currently, 95 percent of events he does today are related to weddings
Steve moody has become a noted Key Speaker at the DJ Expo in Atlantic City for 2013. He covers topics discussing various ways to help DJ’s just starting out understand the different personality types they will engage with to ensure their event goes off without a hitch. As experience has taught Steve Moody there is no better marketing than word of mouth which is why he has been so successful at securing weekly events through building a well-respected team of people who are trained to be the Best MC’s and DJ’s for any event.
“…I constantly have people reaching out to me, who are entertainers, that want to expand their business and they want to be trained on how to do so from my business. Right now the training is free so people who are in the entertainment business take advantage of it. We have a good program. We hand out a handbook to assist them for the training.”
The move into consulting is easy to understand when you recognize how much see Steve’s family has been an integral part of Steve Moody’s business. Just as his grandparents helped to establish the Steve moody Empire 25 years ago Steve is keeping it a family affair by bringing his wife Lori’s on board. Lori was in Real Estate when the markets took a major blow and with the country at the precipice of a depression Steve asked her to work for him on the administrative end. This move catalyzed Steve to move Steve Moody’s Business DJ Services into DJ Consulting services putting more of the focus on freeing up some time to spend with his beloved wife, Daughter Taylor ,9, and Son Logan, 6. “My children are relatively young and I would love to spend more time with them and my wife. I just want to have a comfortable lifestyle. We don’t have to be billionaires but I want us to live comfortable enough where if we go on vacation or if I’m spending time with my family, I won’t worry about anything. We are both happy with where things are right now but, it would be so much better with just taking extra moments out to be with my family.”
Steve Moody gives major credit to two people on the professional front a gentleman who shall remain nameless as the one who set him on the path to consulting. “I was blown away by this well-known personality in the global entertainment business. We became friends last year while he was speaking at the seminar when he asked me to speak at the seminar. It’s like everything became full circle.”
The second person is, rightly so, his grandfather who he really attributes to much more than helping him start his life long career… …He was everything to me. He was my best friend. He raised me rather than my father… My Grandfather was everything to me…”
When asked what he sees in his future Moody Humbly responds by saying
“Five years from now, I hope to be performing at least two times a month for different events rather than going out a lot. I would love to spend more time with the kids and Lori.”
